Reports to: Chief of Staff

Description:

The R&R officer is responsible to monitor the general changes in the brigade membership. They should keep track of the brigade unassigned and ensure they are aware of brigade information outlets or placed with a unit if possible. They should track changes in unit rosters and assist in identifying decreases in membership and possible solutions. They should also be the go to resource for information pertaining to recruiting on behalf of the brigade and be able to refer information back to the Chief of Staff and Officer in Charge if particular resources are needed, such as recruiting cards or fliers for in-person events.

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinate with Chief of Staff and Officer in Charge to track brigade and unit membership.

  • Coordinate with Chief of Staff and Officer in Charge to track brigade unassigned list.

  • Assist unit OICs with retention issues and drastic changes negatively impacting membership.

  • Ensure brigade unassigned are aware of brigade information outlets.

  • Coordinate with Social Media Administrator and Website Administrator to track reach of information outlets to brigade members for the purpose of ensuring members are informed.

  • Make recommendations to the appropriate levels (units and/or brigade command) regarding recruiting and retention issues and solutions.

  • Make recommendations to Chief of Staff and Officer in Charge if recruiting assistance or materials are needed for events.

  • Maintain list of member expiration dates for retention purposes and coordinate with Website Manager and Social Media Administrator as needed to manage access to secured brigade resources such as Website, Facebook Group and Discord server.

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • Must have good analytical skills

  • Existing knowledge and/or experience with recruiting and retention practices preferred but not required

General Qualifications:

  • must be 18 years of age or older

  • must be a member of the Brigade they are serving (Residency in the BDE is not a requirement, but may be preferred by the Officer in Charge.)

  • Possess good organizational and planning skills

  • Possess good time management skills

  • The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.

  • The ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.

  • Exercise responsibility, discretion, and judgment in making decisions.

  • Be able to follow policy and procedure as set forth in the STARFLEET Bylaws and Membership Handbook, the Marine Force Manual and the Policy Manual.

    In addition, you *MUST* have:

  • A consistent Internet connection and be willing to acknowledge all emails sent to you with 48 hours.

  • Be willing to take direction as needed to accomplish the duties.

  • Have a good working knowledge of the Marine Force Manual

  • Have a proficient understanding of office productivity software (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Have access to and a proficient understanding of google services (Google Drive & file sharing)

Training Requirements:

  • OTS: Officers Training School (Preferred)

  • PD-100: Marine Basic Course (Preferred)

  • SFDPP-101: STARFLEET Data Protection Policy (Part 1)

  • SFDPP-102: STARFLEET Data Protection Policy (Part 2)
